Religions other than christianity
I was wondering if any one here has looked into any other religions than christtianity? [i]ie[/i]

those are all of the ones i have read up on or see something about through out the years of my readings.
Just wondering if anyone here has read up on any of them as well.
I was a buddhist for a few years... of the theravadin and zen variety,
I am part roma in the cultural and not religious sense.
I havn't look as deep into the other religions, but I don't have buddhist bitching at me...
thats a really odd statement... " but I don't have buddhist bitching at me" doesnt seem like a very buddhist thing to do lol.
I was just asking because everyone debates over christianity but rarely mentions other religions.
Its because christianity is one of the most "door to door" (there is a fancy word for it, but forgot what it was...) friendly religions and is the largest in the US. If Islam was the largest religion in the US we would know all about that. The Jewish faith doesn't go out and convert as much if at all. All the other religions are pretty small and aren't noticed as much.

I feel bad for the JW's, I mean only 144,000 of um can get into heaven.. You'd think they wouldn't want to recruit competion.

One of the kids i grew up with is a JW but the best part is that he is color blind, the only colors he cant see though are red and green such great irony.
JW are christian? I know the story of how there books were written but i didnt think they were a sub-religion of christianity.
I guess they are about as christian as mormons, but they all believe in jesus and get most things from the bible.
Not true with JW there teachings do not come out of the bible...
Jehovah had golden plates that "god" sent him, but only Jehovah could read what was written on them. He read the plates and wrote the book of Jehavah.
mormons have story like that, but the stole versus out of the bible and said it came off of the plates.

Yep, the JW's use the Bible, they just have their own interpretation.
The mormons have an additional book (Book of Mormon).
I didnt realize that the JW's used the bible i thought that it all came from the plates of Jahovah.
Thats the mormons.
Both groups believe some whacky things, though no less whacky than the average religion in general.
What about scientology? that is by far the most out there one to date, that i know of atleast.

actually, i have looked into all of those religions. i love theology. its what i do. any religion i havent looked up i immediately go to learn about it and study it :)
i love some of the sub-religions of christinanity...we dont like this rule so screw you pope im making my own religion...hahahahaha

When I was younger..
My dad and I memorized the days that the jehovah witness would show up.
When we saw the car and heard the doorbell we'd drop to the floor and hide
I talk to the JWs occasionally.
We get alot of Mormon missionaries because my dad left the church but hasn't officially left the church (I know that sounds weird but there is this process and he doesn't feel the need to deal with it).
I like the mormons, they ride bikes!
The monk that owns the church scares me. He cheats though.

my gf loves pagin religions for that reason. She actually has a wiccin bible its really cool.
Well, they somehow managed not to demonize sex, unlike abrahamic religions :)

But why is owning a Wiccan Bible cool and owning a Christian Bible is not? Aren't all holy books simply just misleading falsities in the eyes of an athiest?

i think the wiccan bible is cool because its something diffrent than you normaly get to see.
i was Buddhist for a few months...lol Chan Buddhist...that's one of the theism ones with like 2000 gods. I just sort of realized that I agreed with most of it..other than the god part =P

you cant because according to both religions it would contradict itself.
I used to hang with some Chan buddhists from the order of Hsu Yun... thats kinduh cool.
BTW one can't be a buddhist and catholic, since one holds that there is an eternal heaven which is impossible according to buddhism.
