After seeing that...if it's a war they want it's a war they'll get...There's one thing I despise, hurting or brainwashing children, or doing ANYTHING bad to kids, so if there's ever a war in the next 30 or so years...I'll be in it...and I'll kill as many of those bastards as I can so they can't brainwash a newer generation...Oh, if you haven't noticed, I get very...uhm...pissed when I see something happening to children, and just because of that video, Fuck Bush...and his whole family, I'm voting liberal from here on out when I hit 18 and am able to vote (Which is in 7 months.)
CNN sometime today is going to do a peice on this.
I have learned however that teasers (promotional blurbs for a segment) are used to intice you into back page fluff peice that really ends up being softball that only postulates and asks no hard hitting questions.
The promo's ask if this is lagit or brainwashing. I doubt however the peice will subject the partisipants into any real hard questions about "Jesus Camp".
I saw this documentary at the Traverse City Film Festival. I sat in the theatre with my best friend and my mother and we sobbed through the entire thing. people were getting outraged in the theatre, and it had such a powerful impact on everyone, people were standing up, started yelling at the screen.
it was flippin amazing. and i sincerely hope they can bring this movie to the masses. -pixie
holy shit.
great now i'm gonna have nightmares of little jesus warriors with mullets attacking me and forcing me to convert.
of course they don't want to kill infidels...yet
cult pure and simple but it could be called a mainstream cult. That is even scarier than ever! I bet we will see alot more like this soon. That is pure simple brainwashing, I almost was a believer, but my mind said "NO You retard!!!"
I couldn't even finish watching it. That was one of the most disgusting things that I've ever seen in my entire life. What is up with people and this bullshit about a "God" ? There is absolutely no justifiable evidence that points to there being a god and if there was, how the hell could everyone pray to him/her/it? Everyone's god is different so it wouldn't make sense.
Truth: Religion (not women, not men, not money, not government), is the root of all evil.
I watched it all. Every second. Then went again.
People keep saying "they're brainwashing the children"... yes, they are doing that, but we're also over looking an incredibly important thing - not only are they brainwashing these children, this is *child abuse*. How do sexual predators get children to believe them, and feel comfortable and normal with them? By working up their emotions and putting ideas into their heads that they are much better off with them then with anyone else. This is what Jesus Camp does. It is abuse to children... if America wasn't run by a bunch of fundamentalists the leaders of this camp would be put in jail.
I know that alot of you are pissed about this but I wouldn't worry about it too much just look at the big picture. It's a bunch of Radical Lunatics, and many people on both sides are offended, one day, when this kind of behavior reaches it's peak, it will fall in on itself, and it will decay and die, just like so many religions before it. Most large organizations will end up destroying themselves because everything goes in cycles, nothing lasts forever.
evangelists fucking scare me
I just reviewed Jesus Camp with a friend and it's being offered in a free download.

le gasp.
vladimir lenin was right... 82 million american's "believe*" this...
it truly is the opiate of the masses...
i think there was another group that had instilled these beliefs of supremacy over others, that they were right, and were followed with blind devotion. i think they were called the National Socialist Party... or NAZIS!... any bells going off? i bet you half of these people believe the holocaust was a scheme cooked up by the "Zionist Threat"...
those kid are like a southern baptist Hitlerjunged... disturbing and terrifying.
hell... if these fuckers start and armed revolt... fuck negotiations... send them to their "hell"
I don't think it would be any sort of alarmism to say that yes, these people portrayed in Jesus Camp are CHRISTIAN FASCISTS, there ain't no doubt about it. The problem that I see is not limited to the fact that, as the man quoted in the trailer noted, one of these centers opens its doors every two days and there are more than 80 million Americans who call themselves Evangelical Christians, but furthermore there is a Christian Fascist solid core that is at the helm of the Bush Regime and is taking the US further and further towards a Bible based, theocratic form of what amounts to red, white, and blue fascism (many of them leaning towards the Christian theocrat flag pictured in the movie even moreso than the Stars and Stripes).
What is to be done, and what role do the youth in the US, especially atheists, have in opposing the direction of this regime and where it seems to be taking society?
The midterm election results are in and it looked like to many people I talked to that this was a "victory" against what a lot of these Bible-based fundamentalists and fascists were fighting for - however, the facade soon slipped away when one realized that even up to the top leadership of the Democratic Party, for instance Hillary Clinton, there was conciliation with religious fanatics - after reading her infamous line about how abortion should be "safe, legal, and RARE" and the fact that Bob Casey, a Democrat, ran and WON in Pennsylvania on an anti-abortion platform...it's clear to see that even this supposed "blow" to the Republicans doesn't put a dent in the freight train that we're headed on towards fascism. What we need is an organized, independent and political movement raging throughout society - not cooped up in a poll booth every couple years, but in the streets and in people's faces, challenging this straight up Christian Fascist agenda.
What do y'all think - any other opinions on how this ties in with the political situation with the Bush regime today?
"What is to be done, and what role do the youth in the US, especially atheists, have in opposing the direction of this regime and where it seems to be taking society?"
Move to Canada and watch the religious nuts die off since with their harsher and harsher morals they no longer know where to stick it in during sexual intercourse.

Thank God...
I mean, fuck yes!
Jesus dont love them no more?
EXCELLENT NEWS! That just made my day right there.
HOORAH!! <333
that is sickening...how can they do that to young people
I have never been so scared in my life.
I've been thinking about this video alot, and the more I think about it, the more it reminds me of Jonestown. If you don't know what that is, you should google it. It's important.
how can this be allowed to happen in the word to day? This is crazy shit that Becky Fisher is pulling... she is brain washing kids and their parents are sending them there... it is no different then a Nazi youth center. It needs to be stopped and we as teenagers need to do something to stop it!
I dont know how their parents can sit in that audience and watch as their kids dress up in camo and act like idiots. There parents must have been brain washed to.
Don't be a bully everyone. If people want to do this, let them. When they do something actually illegal, the situation changes, just like everyone else. It is the parents choice.
.....wow...
that was....
wow
i might have to go shoot myself now..
Might?
What's stopping you? I'm just asking out of curiosity. :-p
((first post whoo!))
that scares me beyond words
"we're training to be god's army"
and just who do they expect to be fighting? anyone they're told to fight, thats who, and that could mean atheist's.
for some reason i cant help but think that those kids are being prompted to say the things they are.
They are. It is called brainwashing.
This is a repeat of nazi brainwashing.
no, nazi's had better symbols and a thinner leader as well as a better anthem hehe - but yeah good thing it is shutting down
man, since i came to this thread this morning this thing has me all jittery
what if something bad happens? like huge global scale disaster, and people like this who think its the apocalypse organize and start...well...fighting god's war?
will we be ready for it? will we be able to stop them?
I don't understand Christian's drive to survive the apocalypse... i would equate that to failing a class... like they didn't make the grade so they have to stay here... like Jesus didn't call them home...
dude, most countries pledge allegiance to a flag or whatev. and when i was in bangkok we had to sing allegiance to the king of thailand or something, so it's actually not that strange. it's just a way to show that something's important to people. and i really don't see how not saying "under god" in school has anything to do with people pledging allegiance. if you said "i don't even pledge allegiance to the american flag" then it would be relevant. if god is as important to people as their country, why can't they pledge allegiance to it? i was taught to say the pledge to the american flag when i was little, but no one thought that was brainwashing, so if you're going to argue against one pledge, you've gotta argue against them all.
oh, and don't lump all christians in the same group, man. all christians are not like...that....i mean, i counsel at christian camps, but they're nothing like that! the most "christiany" things that we do is sing christian songs and pray before we eat. just because they say that 80 million people are christians doesn't mean that we're all spazzing for christ like in that video.
just because they say that 80 million people are christians doesn't mean that we're all spazzing for christ like in that video.
I know, but what's so frightening about it is there are actually that many Christians who ARE that insane.
I love that little appearence Ted Haggard made.
Somewhere in the movie,he says (paraphrasing) "We don't have to debateon homsexuality. It's in the bible." Yeahh..... (I'm assumiong you're all familiar with him, but if you arn't, he got caught screwing a male prostitute.)
And in he spent 3 weeks in "rehabilitation, and, like magic, he's "straight" again. Wow, Jesus is magic.
Also, on a second thought lets talk strategy. Those kids look much younger than me, let alone everyone else here. If they try to take over the US, i think we can take them. Just saying.
'tis true, toxicat......it's even worse for me because people see movies like this and they're like "and YOU're a christian like THESE PEOPLE?!?!?!" and then i have to deal with all this crap handed to me by people who supposedly share my "religion." ugh. ticks me OFF. seriously, children that small aren't gonna actually know what they're doing and saying, so although i don't disagree with parents showing their children what they believe, it's not really the kids belief untill they know what they're doing. i'll bet most of these kids will grow up and be like "what the crap was THAT all about?" and actually get real about life. like, it's alright to be hyped up about God, but it's gotta at least be a rational decision, not just peer pressure or adult intervention like at that camp. bleh, it gives me the heebie jeebies!
of course they don't want to kill infidels...yet
dude, christianity is a pacifist religion. if they actually DID start violence or some crap like that so many other ACTUAL christians would be like "what the HECK do you think you're DOING?!?!" this isn't even what christianity is, it's just a sick video about a cult that someone made that SAYS it's christian. poor little tykes...they even have mullets...it's pretty cruel.
christianity is a pacifist religion.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
um, if you're gonna argue against, then argue, because otherwise i'll just take that laughter as an admittance of your ignorance about christianity
Crusades,
Inquisition,
Irish-Conflict,
Witch Hunts,
Slavery,
Abortion Bombings,
Danites (follows w/ below),
Mormon Conflict,
The KKK,
Major Persecution of Jews,
Idolizing some forms of violence (not in itself violence),
Persecution of Homosexuals,
I would consider some fundamentalist tactics to 'scare the hell' out of children to be violence,
Exorcisms,
Protestant reformation,
Persecution of Some scientists,
- This may not be importiant - But I should mention that a very large proportion of the prison population is Christian (Larger Evanjelical percentage,
I believe that there are more examples... but I cant think of many more
thats all well and good but the christian fundamentalist beliefs dont want to "kill the infidels" they want to convert them so the worst thing that may happen is one may come up to you and talk to you about Jesus and you walk away is that all that bad?
Not true. The christian crusaders were the ones who came up with the term infidel, actually.
God is the meta-ethical precondition for all morality. Read the works by William Lane Craig.
Teenagers just are not educated enough in logic and philosophy. They need to gow-up first before they even think they know anything about anything.
You cannot have morality without God. Atheists can count, but they can't ACCOUNT for morality.
God is the meta-ethical precondition for all morality. Read the works by William Lane Craig.
I've read quite a bit of stuff from Craig, might I recommend Strong Atheism to you.
Teenagers just are not educated enough in logic and philosophy. They need to gow-up first before they even think they know anything about anything.
Ad hominem/attacking people personally and generalizing a huge body of people, is pretty immature...
You cannot have morality without God. Atheists can count, but they can't ACCOUNT for morality.
Bullshit. Referring all morality to God makes it completely relative to God and dependent on God's arbitrary opinion. A rational basis for morality is based on the facts of reality around us (read about Objectivist morality/moral realism).
You cannot have morality without God. Atheists can count, but they can't ACCOUNT for morality.
Correct. I dont have morals, I have ethics. Thats socially acceptable compared to morals, since every Christian has a different view when it comes to thier morals. Ethics remain the same.

I. Refer to the other post I made
II. Insulting again arent you? Hm, you know we can do the same.
III. IGNORANCE IS POWER.
How are teens stupid? We have the best eyesight, are at our physical height, and our sheer mental power and reasoning capacity is by far more powerful than adults, as well as our ability to learn new things. It's something that should be harnessed, not feared. Yes our hormones are out of wack. I'll take the hormones and let my cerebral cortex deal with it. Grr...
Cheers!
