I don't understand something

Homer called himself a "Christian" in some episode.
In another episode, he says "believe I don't even believe in Jebus!".
They seem to make fun of all religions, though.
that is true, especially family guy.
but in ways i find that the simpsons could be promoting christianity.
what about evan almighty and bruce almighty?
is that making fun of christianity or saying it is a good thing?
i could see it going either way
